I will have a Stelling whitestar (#2635, from 1983) in excellent condition (almost never played) for sale soon. Before putting an ad, since I'm not a 5 string player, I wonder if $2250 (including shipping) is a fair price. Just to get an idea, sorry I don't have pics yet.

What I suggest is that you review the Stelling banjos for sale here in the Banjo Hangout classified section, and, yes, there is a Whitestar among those...

Stelling Banjos for Sale in BHO Classifieds

Also keep in mind that you're selling an instrument in a VERY soft market, and many of these top-of-the-line Stellings have been lingering in the classifieds for quite some time.  So with that in mind, and considering the condition your Whitestar is in, and how eager you are to sell it, price your banjo accordingly and hope for the best.  Oh, and detailed, sharp, brightly lit photos are a must, and the more of them the better, and from every conceivable angle, too!  Good luck!

Okay, and I'm having to guess at this since there are only a few photos posted, but I would say the price you're thinking of asking ($2,250) seems just about right for this market.

From my experience, I think the earlier Whitestar banjos, those with a natural, lightly stained blond finish, are a bit more desirable to those who like the simple appointments of a Whitestar, and they seem to sell faster than the later, dark-stained models.  But at the price you might be asking, and if this banjo is truly in excellent, little-played condition, then I think you might have something that'll be a good seller.  Again, best of luck!

I’ve not been following sales of banjos much - but I play an 88 whitestar that I paid a similar asking price - but I had upgrades like s/s frets, tony pass rim (along with original), schaller d-tuners. Best of luck
