I just saw a great banjo D-Tuner, and the owner said it's called "First Quality Tuner."
It's a plastic bar across the banjo head, which clamps on and has its own tuning pegs.
The pegs bend the strings to the side, are very exact, don't hurt my wonderful Mastertone, and stay in tune even when I retune to D or C.
Where can I find them?

Hi Robert, I think maybe what you are looking for are Cheat-A-Keys. I have never heard of "First Quality Tuners" and a Google search turned up nothing on my end, but that does not mean they do not exist.

Here are a few links I found for them. I am not an endorser for any of these sellers.

I hope this helps!

Get Keith tuners and don't look back.

Get Cheat-A-Keys and be satisfied and contented.  Keith tuners are a pain, and this is coming from somebody with over 45 years of picking experience, who's owned both examples of D-tuners throughout the years.  I now use Cheat-A-Keys exclusively.

Also worth considering is "The Mighty D-Tuner". It does away with the heavy "bar" across the peghead -- all it has are two small curved "tubes" that reach around from the back of the peghead. The unit on the back is small and can be secured with either 2 small screws or some double-sided tape.

They work great, too.

I've had all three and a set that I made. I liked mine the best but didn't like drilling holes in the peghead. The ones with the tubes can only - as far as I could determine - could only do the standard D tuning. I used the two-sided tape and it damaged the finish on the back of the peghead. Of the three I prefer the cheat-a-keys. For me the Keiths were a pain.

Giant thanks to banjosam, J. Albert, Stu D Baker-Hawk, kmwaters, and, especially, medic, who included some possible buying sites.
Since I already have the gold-plated Scruggs ones, I'll try the new ones.
Thanks again, all of you. What a great resource this site is.

Where? Since I love "No Title Yet Blues" and it seems an interesting choice for a self-declared beginner (I myself selected it for my first feeble attempt at transcribing), I would like to see your efforts.

I went to the site, and the tab shown (by me) was way wrong.
So I deleted it and have now re-posted the correct one.
But I don't see it yet, so maybe the Forum monitor waits an hour or a day before sticking it on.
But you'll see it soon.

Ah, OK, you were talking about tabs. I thought there perhaps was a video or recording. I will look at the tabs when they are up.
