Kevin Hendrix aka Warpdrive here on the hangout has had a run of bad luck and many of you know. Cancer came back, doing chemo, beloved dogs died, can't work and then his banjo needs repairs more than his ? quality banjo would cost new. Folks he deserves a break. How crappy that when all this happens you get aggravation instead of joy out of your banjo. I have started a GoFundMe page. Arthur Hatfield, despite being out for a good while with thyroid and heart surgeries kicked this off with $500 by lowering the price of a new Hatfield Buck Creek for Kevin. Arthur doesn't even know him but knows of him thru friends.
Folks if everyone gives a little, we can get a new lifetime banjo in his hands. Lets do this quick and get it done soon. Lets get a banjo in his hands as he deals with all this stuff. Here is the site for GoFundMe. https://www.gofundme.com/get-a-banjo-for-an-elite-musician-on-chemo

We all deserve a good break sometime. Thank you all for doing the right thing.

Please send the GoFundMe to anyone you think might help. Selfishly I want to see Kevin and Arthur together when Kevin gets his Buck Creek.

I am in a similar battle and I couldn't imagine doing it without a banjo. Best wishes Warpdrive.

This is amazing. Over half of the money has been donated in one day. Great work Ken. The BHO is an amazing community. I bet Warp is picking that banjo sooner than anyone thought possible.

Moo,

I hope your bet wins, but I am nervous. After the article left the front page of the hangout the donations have really subsided. I would ask that you and anyone else pulling for this try to get Kevin's GoFundMe page on any facebook site that will post it and that also people send it to any friends or hangout friends they have that they think might be interested.  Mike and Jeff, thanks for your support and encouragement and Mike, thanks for posting Kevin's playing on your hangout page. I used them for the GFM page.

Hopefully people can continue the conversation here on this thread to keep it up on that first page in the Most Popular Posts. I will certainly do my part to keep it going. I'll look for some more videos of Kevin.

Moo, I had one gentleman who remained anonymous on the giving list tell me that he had bought some cheat a keys from Warp a long time ago. He said he then called him back with a dumb question and Warp really spent a lot of time with him to help him understand. Good stuff has away of coming back on you doesn't it?

Moo, I went out for two hours and came back. when I got to the computer there were 2 donations. One for $25 and one for $100! This puts us within $1,000 of Kevin getting a new banjo. $1k can big or it can be not so big. We will see. They talked about Kevin deserving a new banjo and what a fine player he is. How right they were.
You know, with all the bad stuff (everybody at big odds and angry with each other over politics, trolls on the internet, cheating in college sports, school shootings and the list goes on), this is something that is really right. It puts an beautiful Kentucky made instrument in the hands of a guy that can really play it but who thru circumstances not of his own making, doesn't have a decent one. Great instrument + talented artist = beautiful bluegrass music. Man that is right stuff. We don't get a chance to do something really right very often. It will be great to get that banjo in his hands.

Just make sure that the banjo comes with a speed neck or the first thing he'll do is take some steel wool and scrub off the varnish! ;)

smileyyes Getting there aren't we Janice! But I have to tell you the truth. Yesterday and old coaching buddy of mine called and said he was sending me a $50 check in the mail! so the true total is $764! I would love to get this banjo in Kevin's hands as soon as possible so he has something to look forward to when he completes a session of Chemo. There are some really great people letting their heart show in supporting this. It is something to see from this side.

Thanks,

Ken

Kimberly: You sure did!!!yes. We had some great donations at the end of the night and it puts us $444 away from getting Warp his banjo. I have to tell you that from this side of doing this, I am really humbled by the caring and generosity of the people. All are giving from their heart. This is special to see. Hopefully we will have the banjo in Warps hands soon and that will be something to celebrate! Great job Kimberly. Thankyou.
