I did a gig with Cynthia Sayer recently and she had a pick holder made of metal. Does anyone know what companies would have made them and where I can find one?
Any photos or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Marcy Marxer

Grover made them back in the '20's and '30's.  http://www.mugwumps.com/ephemera.html

Richelieu made them as well. They show up periodically in the classifieds and in the "flea market" section of the larger vintage instrument dealers. Patience helps a lot...

Here is one on a B&D Special # 2 that I once owned.

I would check with some instrument dealers. They may have one stashed away in a drawer somewhere.

Marcy , I recently saw a video by tenor jazz banjo player and BHO member JRay136 where he had something attached to his banjo that piqued my interest..I thought perhaps it was a mute of sorts...now I know what it really was! His appears to be gold....he might know where to find one if you contacted him.

Wild guess, but...

Couldn't a spring clip from the office supply aisle be  modified to do a similar job?

This is great!!! Thank you for the pic and advice! I'm playing a lot of tenor and cello banjo these days. A pick holder is a great idea.
I'll try the paper clip soon. HA!!!!!

i made a couple when i couldn't afford to buy some. they are pretty easy to cobble together if you have the inclination.  mine weren't too pretty but sure did do the job.
