Was up late, last night, so I crawled back into bed after breakfast.
Napped from 8 AM 'til9:30.
Phone rang.
Somebody talking rather loud, and ending just about every sentence with "RIGHT??"
Claimed to be from Publisher's Clearing house.
Claimed that I had signed up for a drawing, simply by having purchased something at Wal-Mart.
Said I had won a certified check.
Sounded like a scam, so I kept him on the phone for as long as I could, being careful to avoid saying "YES" to anything, RIGHT?.
He wanted to know if I am Michael B Gregory,  of 756 9th Av., which is how the "signature" showed up on his computer.
(I  had myself listed in the phone book as GREGORY, Mike Banjo, in case people were looking for Banjo Mike Gregory.)
Since I never use B in my signature, I knew for SURE that he was just going through the phone book.
He claimed to be calling from Michigan, an asked me what time it was here.
Far as I know, Mich & Wis are in the same time zone.
Strung him along a while longer, and told him that I wasn't particularly excited, since it was money I wasn't expecting, and didn't work for.
Asked him why he didn't just MAIL me the check.
"Company policy" to bring it to me.
Asked him what time, what day he was bringing it.
Tuesday, about 10 AM.
Asked him what I was supposed to do between now and then.
Supposed to just relax and be happy.
Told him I was already relaxed.
Then he wanted to know if I'm retired.
Told him that IF the check was big enough, I might retire.
Then he asked if I was single, married, divorced or a widow.
Told him that the people at the bank wouldn't care about any of THAT, as long as the check was good when I deposited it.
He was getting annoyed (YAY!) and complained that he didn't want to waste his time talking to me if I wasn't going to co-operate.
I told him that the more time he spent talking to ME, the less time he'd have to run a scam on anybody.
He said that if someone ELSE had run a sham on me, his company could possibly reimburse me.
Apparently, scam is pronounced "sham" in Michigan!
That's news to me.
I said I was guessing that English was not his first language.
Anyway, he eventually said that I am a soccer of a deck, and should go fock myself.
Charming accent, but hardly the behavior one would expect from an actual employee of Publisher's Clearing house.
Now I'm up and awake, may as well do something useful.
Hope y'all are having as much fun reading this, as I had writing it.

Based on the selfie you use for your avatar photo, I can hardly BLAME them for thinking that a Talking Dog would be rich!

And the beat goes ON!

Got THIS one in my evening e-mail"

I am very sorry I have to reach you through this medium. I am a member of the European Debt Recovery Unit and I am aware of your sad ordeal about your unpaid fund.

It may interest you to know that not long after the Debt Management Office (DMO) completed the merger and acquisition process of all pending payments occasion through the petition raised by the international community about their unpaid funds. I discovered that their boss connived with some top officials to divert funds approve to settle unpaid Fund (concealed funds).

The DMO has already given approval for the payment of your fund but they deliberately withheld your payment file and continue to demand fees from you through their associates from different unassigned affiliates mostly from Africa, US , Europe and Asia all in an attempt to frustrate you and enrich themselves. I wonder why you haven't notice all this while.

You may choose to disbelieve this email as inconceivable but my doctrine does not permit such act, reason I have to open up to you to seek the right channel. Your fund was authorized to be paid to you through the DMO asset management firm with a Key Tested Reference/Claim Code Number, which was supposed to have been issued to you before now.

Upon your response to my message, I shall guide you through and provide you with details to contact the assigned affiliate who will facilitate the release of your fund, for more details.

Thanks and have a wonderful day.

Yours Faithfully,

Kelly David

European Debt Recovery Agent, UK.

So "Debt Recovery" wants to "facilitate the release of your fund". Of course they do.

THIS morning ( Jan 15) I got a third message from someone who says that he has hacked my computer.
And, oddly enough, he HAS included a password from my LinkedIn account.
An account i no longer HAVE.

Says that UNLESS he gets paid, he will send a video to everybody on my e-mail list.
Says it's a video made by MY monitor's video camera, showing me "satisfying" myself while visiting a porn site.
Says his Trojan virus was downloaded while VISITING that porn site.

He should have left that part of the threat off of the message, because I have never "satisfied myself" while visiting a porn site.

That he knew an old password was a BIT disconcerting, but his claim that he has a video of me doing something I never did, exposes him as a liar.

I am not responding to his messages.
Oh, by the way: He says if I tell ANYBODY about this, he will release the video.

Well, other than 110,000 people on Banjo HangOut, I'm hardly going to mention it to a soul.

That’s called extortion, Mike, and it’s a criminal offence. This one should be turned over to the police.
