Hey David, I think it would have to be an obscure Duke song, I think you’ve done quite a few of his tunes:). I’m game.

"Azalea" is a beautiful Duke song, and while it's not exactly obscure, it's not one that you hear as often as his others. I've often thought about giving it a try. The version featuring Duke and Louis Armstrong together is sheer joy.

I Love Ellington Mike......he was a Genius. I know this word is thrown around, but he really was. I only play a few of his songs right now, but I'm game too man. I would love to hear some choices from the congregation, and we could pick one.

You beat me to the punch John.....I'm not familiar...but I would surely give it a go.

I'll try to give it a shot later this week, my next couple of days are booked. You can find it on Youtube and elsewhere on the net. Beautiful song. I'd love to hear everybody's version of it.

I'm right there with you John......I listened to the song, and I love it. I'll give it a go. Do you have a sheet for it by any chance?

I wish I did, but unfortunately not. Perhaps somebody else here on the Hangout might have it? I should have thought of that before I suggested it. I'll try to work it out by ear if I can...

That is a cool song. I’ll give it a go. Takes me a while to work up something presentable however.

My vote - "I can't get started." Ever play that one? Gershwin.

Was it Ellington that had a Tour d' Force with Mary Had a Little Lamb?

I'd love to hear you play Caravan Steve, and hear you play "I can't get started"Laurence. Lets fill this place up. I'm going to concentrate on Azalea, as I'm captivated by Eddy and Conals version. Which I like better than Armstong/Ellington.

Thanks for this recommend John.......I absolutely love it.

My pleasure, David. I'm going to give Azalea a try also, later this week, and I hope I can figure out a way to record so I can post it.

David, are you familiar with Paul Mauriat? Love is blue would sound great in your style of playing.

Bruce.....

In keeping with the idea of Paul Mauriat and his orchestra, a couple of us did our versions of "The Last Waltz," which was a big tune for Mr. Mauriat. You might enjoy listening to them.

Do any of you cats know Mood Indigo?

One of my favorite Ellington tunes.

And then there’s the tale of the cow that drank the ink and mooed indigo.

Steve Davis,

Any possibility of someday doing a live feed of your performances from the retstaurant?

Ken
