Anyone here tried this Fats Waller/Andy Razaf tune? I was inspired to try it after hearing Satchmo's version. I thought I had heard everything Pops ever recorded, but this was new to me.
Haven't tried this one, but worked out the first part of "Handful of Keys" for melodic 5-string in the original key of F.
I can understand you bein' inspired by Satchmo's version Joe, it's a ripper!. I've done quite a few tutorials on Fats Waller tunes, and have this one on my to do list, in the near future.
Here's the sheet music out of ''thefirehousefivefakebook.'' it might help. ..... Don.
David Cava put up a rendition of this tune in April of this year. Here is the discussion link: banjohangout.org/topic/341459
Sadly, I don't see the link to the video.
"The Manhattan Minstrel" Eddy Davis playing and singing a great old tune from a broadway show. Sung often by the great Louis Armstrong. Davis plays it on his custom OME 12" head, 17 fret finger board tenor banjo.
I put this up sometime ago. I hope it still holds up. "A Minstrel"
That really is a pretty and captivating melody. thanks for sharing.
