Left-handed, too.

One of the few left-handed pros! There's Jamie Sparks from the Bluegrass Brothers, but other than him, I don't know of any pros that are lefties.

Don appears in a number of old videos with Bill & Blue Grass Boys from that period. See them on YouTube. Good picker.

Don was a really nice fella too! I got to go to his house one time and he gave me an autographed photo of him and Monroe! He was tragically killed in a house fire.

Bobby Slone, fiddler/bass player with JD Crowe and the New South.

Jamie Johnson, a founding member and former lead singer/guitarist of the Grascals.

In my post, I guess I was just thinking of banjo players. There are a few lefties on other instruments too. I think one of the Cherryholmes siblings played the fiddle left-handed.

The banjo player sounds great but that's the worst Monroe recording I've heard. At times it sounds like they are playing two different songs. Monroe and Don are the only ones not messing up three chord songs.

Staghorn5 I just listened to the whole thing. Not the worst I ever heard from the Blue Grass Boys, but not great either. The bass playing really "makes it", don't you think? That wasn't exactly a common, well-oiled road band. Cookie must have been subbing on guitar, perhaps Benny Williams too -- generally I think he did more studio and local Nashville work as a Blue Grass Boy. James William must have just been handed the bass. I really liked E. Tennessee Blues by Bill and Doc Watson though.
