The oven is old, but still works.
It has become RUSTY inside.

Any of you chemistry experts able to tell, with reasonable certainty, if appliance paint can be applied to the INSIDE, without emitting fatal chemicals when the thing gets turned on ( a week or so later)?

Let us know how that works out. Personally, I would just replace it. I'm usually in favor of keeping things but somehow this doesn't seem like a good idea.

I would run it for the first time outside. No reason to turn your kitchen into a toxic dump.

On the other hand if the inside is that bad, who knows what shape the magnatron is in and after you put all the work into it you might end up with a flower pot the first time you plug it in.

just sand off the rust, everyone knows you're cheap, so no one is going to be fooled by a layer of paint.

I admire your pioneer spirit to repair it but unless you get the proper paint it might be better to buy a new one for 50 bucks or keep your eye open at yard sales.

Now, let's see you turn the old one into a banjo.

Good one Tobin. He could call it the cubed eel.

But, if I DO make the old one into a banjo, a lot of the HARDCORE Bluegrassers will criticize me harshly for going electric!  crying

A can of anti-rust and a can of microwave paint would have cost me more than the one I just bought!

"MAGNATRON" doesn't sound like the name of a banjo.

It sounds like  the name of a robot who PLAYS banjo.

Screw on a neck and run strings across the open box. Call it the Atomic Banjo. Just don't plug it in.
