I'm learning the tune Old Drake on banjo and fiddle and one of my main sources is Dwight Diller's recording on his album Harvest (https://dwightdiller.bandcamp.com/album/harvest). Does anyone know who is playing fiddle on that recording? I can't track down liner notes.
It's a cool crooked modal sounding tune that was done as a Tune of the Week a while back.
Here's a Tab from the Dwight Diller tab book, at http://dwightdiller.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/C.-DLLR-TabBook-2006_07_31-page-numbers-correct.pdf

I have the CD, and the liner notes. The notes indicate that Jimmy Triplett is the fiddler on “Old Drake.” The notes also mention that DD and JT recorded “Old Drake” previously, for a Dec. ‘94 video. (Also, there are several other musicians featured on this album, including at least two other fiddlers. John Gallagher, and Danny Gardella play fiddle on other cuts.)
Thanks to Lew and Samuel for the info. I've heard some other Jimmy Triplett recordings before and I'm a fan of his fiddling. He has a couple of nice albums available on Bandcamp:
Man, I love West Virginia tunes.
Jimmy Triplett is a fantastic fiddler, if you like OT music, get those downloads!
See the question has already been answered.
Harvest and Papa are my two favorite albums of Dwight's, and I really like that tune.
I really like WV music too.
Last year when up there for Vandalia Gathering, Diller gave me a T-Shirt that says "The rules are different in Pocahontas County". The music is too.
[[[Man, I love West Virginia tunes. ]]] yeah. and how. thanks much for the bandcamp pointers. i'm there.
