Musescore is a program for Linux, Windows, and Mac operating systems that creates full featured tabs and notation scores. It runs natively on each platform with no need for emulation programs, such as required to run Tabledit on Linux. There is also a Musescore Player for Android (free) and Musescore Songbook for iOS (paid), these mobile apps play scores/tabs in the apps native format.
I've just started using MuseScore and it's really nice. I've got no experience with tabledit, but I find MuseScore much more convenient for tablature than Finale, and it's even free! It can export and import MusicXML, so in theory music files can be shared with other programs that import/export MusicXml. I tried this with Finale and it looked perfect, though I didn't exercise it much.
I made a banjo template for MuseScore that makes it easy to create a score, and to print either tab-only or tab+standard notation. I'd be happy to post the template in whatever is the appropriate place if people want to start using it.
I am a TablEdit user and I have no plans to change to MuseScore, but I agree that it should be able to upload also MuseScore files to the tab archive! I also think it would be nice if all tab posters also post a pdf besides the MuseScore or TablEdit file so all can be able to watch the tab without any tab software (but you will need a pdf software to read the pdf tab).

Yes, please enable upload of MuseScore files to the Tab Archive!
Musescore (though I don't use) and .xml options would be nice.
I agree. It would be great if MuseScore scores could be uploaded. It would also be nice if both tablEdit and MuseScore posters uploaded musicXML flies as well as the native format, so that the transcriptions could be imported in either direction.
Please add MuseScore .mxl and .mscz to the supported file-types for tab uploading. Everyone will love you for it and you will be invited to cool people parties.
I agree, if we can upload musescore files to the tab archive that would be great, as we will be able to hear it as well. There are many people using this software that are forced to upload pdf's only.
I don’t tab much but when I do I use Musescore. If it were added to the supported files I might get into tabbing more and upload some stuff.
Even if there’s some issue with adding the MuseScore native .mscz (though I didn’t know why that’s problematic) it would wonderful to have .mxl. All serious programs - Finale, Sibelius, MuseScore, TablEdit, ... - can import and export those files, so it would serve the largest possible number of users.
