I have this 4 string Bacon Peerless from about 1925 (s/n 16690 on rim and dowel stick). No resonator or flange. I measured the pot from rim to rim and it seems like it is about 10 7/8". All the metal parts are in great shape.

First, I am wondering what kind of tone ring is on this and what kind of head might be a good one for it (the head with it is clear).

Next, I am thinking of putting a 5 string neck on it. Nothing expensive because the banjo is probably not worth a lot, but I would like to be able to play it.

Can anyone tell me how you think this might sound for clawhammer? I have no idea what sounds came out of these old tenors....

No tone ring brass hoop, by the way. I have a homemade scooped five string neck that came with a 36 senorita that should fit

I had a peerless tenor... It was a nice solid banjo.. The only thing I didn't like about it was the neck seemed a little thick at the top. Kinda wish I still had it... Good luck with yours..!
