I agree it's a horrible tragedy. My heartfelt thoughts go out to the families of the victims.

But nothing else to say? Really. Like it's a natural disaster?

That's just stark-staring delusional. And an admission of an abnegation of social responsibilty. angry

Good old "Thoughts and Prayers" again. From people who actually live in the same country and have "Votes and Voices". It's not a tragedy. An earthquake or meteor strike is a tragedy. Something horrible that only happens regularly in a single country is a choice.

Delusional, seriously.  At the time this was posted all that was known was there was a shooter in a high school and a lot of people were injured and killed.  I simply expressed heartfelt feelings.  As a parent, and a teacher it was overwhelming.  To have said anything else would trigger this into a thread that would quickly get locked.  At this time, there needs to be no political statement, no gun issue statements, nothing else.  There are no details other than those stated.  Sorry that I stirred up anger in you, which seems to be directly aimed at me.  Fine, I'm a big boy and I can take it.  Meanwhile all my thoughts and prayers are with everyone directly, and peripherally  dealing with this issue.  This is not the time for ideology, or politics.  Plenty of time for that later.

When you stop the subway bombings and other terrorist attacks in your country, come back and talk to us about votes and voices.

When someone drives down a bunch of people in the street do you get rid of the cars?

Same predictable jerking of the knee from the same predictable people here on the BHO..

I'm tired of people who would rather be right politically than care about the lives of fellow human beings. Who turn every "thoughts and prayers" post into their own need to be right. And mock and ridicule you ignorant posters who don't agree with them. Mocking and ridicule is the currency of small minds.

And offer absolutely no workable solution..

CP, do you mean "workable" or "perfect"?  When the subject comes up, I invariably read several proposals that would be a "start."  If they don't come up this time, you can look 'em up... probably a lot easier than I can, given my lack of internet/computer proficiency.    And, as odd as might seem,  the mocking and ridicule comes from both "sides." Go figure.

And I've also read in these BHO threads that everything in the USA is just fine.  Go figure again.

Its unthinkable, unimaginable. Those of us with kids...its like the worst nightmare imaginable.
Thoughts and prayers may mean little for some but its all I can offer to those kids and parents.
Bless them all.

I believe we are all equally saddened here. Nobody here has the right to imply that they have more sorrow than the next guy. As a father and grandfather I can't help but feel very sad but I'm also extremely disgusted.

Yes, get rid of all the cars, because we all know that the maiger reason that there are cars is so we can use them to kill people.   Then there are all the people who keep saying.  The only time to do anything about this problem of guns is when no one cares.  I'm not with YOU either.

Ok, so I'm small minded.

Nobody wants to hear my serious opinions, and I can't begin to imagine anything funny to say, either.
That pretty well eliminates my options.
So, you folks take care of posting in such a manner as to avoid the almost inevitable lock.

Dave, you're a teacher, right?

It doesn't take a teaching degree to understand that terrorists are not handed the weapons to harm innocent people by the country they attack.

It also doesn't take a teaching degree to figure out that repeat mass-killings of innocent school children such as in Florida occur in only one country - the US.

It doesn't take a teaching degree to make the connect why.

And when you have that connect it doesn't take a teaching degree to understand that education and the 'vote and voice' mentioned above is the only sane route to eventually not having to post 'thoughts and prayers' every few weeks.

For chrissake you're a teacher. As one of the commendable body of professionals educating the next generation it is your responsibility to speak out.

I'm sorry you are tired of our predictability. Maybe if instead of paralysis and intransigence you demonstrated a sincere effort to ensure these appalling and avoidable man-made mass shootings of kids didn't happen then the scope for our 'predictability' would be removed.

It's not our solution to find. It's yours. Here, with consensus support our authorities demonstrated that effort after a single such mass school shooting at Dunblane.

..and until you do that the really uncomfortable reality is as Andrew said. It's not random accident; the repeat pattern makes for predictability which makes it a choice.

That's horrific.

Step one.....admit you have a problem....LOL.

Of course we can't get rid of cars, we need them.  The only solution is to put a $10,000 dollar a year tax on them to reduce their numbers, and make a national speed limit of 25 MPH everywhere to eliminate high speed collisions.  Problem solved.  Everybody now, start jerking those knees.

You don't care about a solution. You'd rather strut around and feel morally superior. That's why you ridicule anyone who disagrees with you. If you could use force to get your way, you would. But since you can't, in frustration you and a few others here lash out with snarkiness and ridicule.

Like I said before, plainly predictable.

Not true.  I simply replied to a post explaining the UK's solution to a mass-school shooting. In response to a direct accusation that we're not interested in solutions.

Ironically the unwarranted attaching of words like 'strut' and 'superior' and 'snarkiness' to those who raise points the truth of which you find uncomfortable is a transparent attempt to demean. As in other contexts for example where people are referred to as 'gooks' and 'ragheads' it is an empty, derogatory, depersonalising diversion designed to uphold the abuser's supposed 'superiority'.  And as a consequence of a hopeless, intransigent 'hands off the Constitution' attitude of misplaced patriotism, it is a form of that which Johnson referred to as: 'the last resort of scoundrels'.

The issue is not those who expose the evident cause and contradiction. It is you who live in that society and collectively and tacitly condone.
