I know that everyone who visits this forum has different tastes in "Jazz music", from the early, everything in between, and right up to this very day. On Plectrum, 5 string, tenor, or whatever instrument......I hope it can be expressed here freely. I just wanted to say that I hope everyone, whatever your tastes, whatever instrument you are into, please post here, and share your thoughts and your music. Myself, I love it all. I'm a relatively newcomer to tenor, I've played music most all my life mind you, but this music has got to me. All of it, on whatever instrument I hear. I can't walk out my door, and have someone to play this music with. I live in the sticks mostly, and this place is a haven for me. I learn so much from EVERYONE here, and I want to take "my" learning to another place. I hope all of you will help me get there.

Cool Doub!.....I've been wanting to learn James for a long time actually, my fav of Methenys', if that is on your agenda at some point. This is not my place though, I'm just a journeyman here, I can't welcome anyone. It's everyones' place. Let it fly man. I'm going to try everything on tenor myself.

That's fantastic Doub! Do you have a lead sheet for it? I think this should be tune of the month! Your video went black half way through on my end by the way. I love it though. Great playing all around man.

Yeah, I always loved that tune too! And I also enjoy the whole spectrum of jazz (well okay, late-period Coltrane and Ornette Coleman are a bit of a stretch for me) or maybe I just haven't tried hard enough, but I really enjoy the stuff Eddy puts out, right up to say Wynton Marsalis. I hope to hear lots of variety on here, always hoping that it doesn't upset the old-timers too much. I'm a bit of an old-timer myself at this point.

I'm very much a "closet jazz player" as I'm still trying to get this all figured out. I know I don't contribute anything at all in this section of the forum (because I really don't have anything I can contribute with), but I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members that do post stuff here! I log in and read the forum every day.

I'm slowly and without any finesse, starting to be able put together some chord melody arrangements to some easier pieces on my own now, so at least a see a light in the tunnel and I think I know what I have to study in order to be able to branch out to play other types of jazz that are not in the standard repertoire (the stuff the material I'm learning from are based on). I'm having a lot of fun with this even if it hurts my head at times!

So in conclusion, in maybe a year or two I see myself as contributing member here. Lol, I bet you can't wait.wink

I'll go back to my closet now. blush

Hey Doub, guess what I found........a lone bottle of Eagles Rare in our little store. I couldn't believe it. $30. I'm sampling it now, and I like it a lot. Really nice. This is sort of about Jazz right? I may try a tune out after my samplingsmiley
