More About Me
I am very excited to be offering banjo lessons at The Studio in
Tumwater. I have been playing 5-string banjo since 1997 and studied
composition, ear training, and music theory at Berklee College of
Music. I have performed with numerous local bands playing bluegrass,
jazz, and celtic music, and I also have experience playing blues,
pop/rock, latin, eastern european, indian music and more on the banjo.
I teach 3-finger style, fraiiling, "Pete Seeger" style, and melodic style.
I have developed an original banjo technique that utilizes mizrabs (sitar fingerpicks) and combines frailing with 3-finger picking.
Lessons are taught by tablature and by ear, tailored to your own individual
musical goals. I am accepting beginning, intermediate, and advanced
banjo students. I can also teach electric bass, pennywhistle (Irish
whistle), beginning guitar, beginning stand-up bass, and music
theory/ear training for any instrument.
