Notes: Kingdom Coming (Year of Jubilo) is a song written by H.C. Work. It was written for the union in the civil war, and has 4 stanzas. It is about a slave master running from the approaching yankees, trying to disguise himself as a slave, and eventually being thrown in the smokehouse by the slaves. One of my favorite tunes, heres the lyrics.
Also note that i can only do 16 measures on the TablEdit demo, so just repeat the first 8 once before playing the other half.
Say darkies can you see the massa,
With the mus-tache on his face,
Go 'long the road sometime this mornin'
Like he gwine to leave the place?
He seen a smoke way up de river,
Where the Lincoln gunboats lay.
He'll take his hat and leave very sudden
And I spec he's gone away.
CHORUS:
Oh massa run, a-ha!
The darkies say: no mo!
It must be now the kingdoms comin'
And the year of Jubilo!
