Notes: Farewell to Whiskey was composed in 1799 by Niel Gow as a lament due to the failure of the Scottish barley crop. This led to the prohibition of using barley to make whiskey. Niel Gow was a renowned Scottish fiddler who is credited as the source for many traditional tunes.
