Notes: This is not a tab, but an introductory booklet I created on the basic mechanics of clawhammer stroking. I’ve introduced many students to clawhammer using this booklet and have had them playing a song at the end of the first lesson (Short’nin’ Bread was usually my go-to for that). There are tabs in the booklet for various drills, and I’ve created YouTube videos (links in the booklet) for the different drills. Double thumbing is introduced first, then drop thumbing (a special case of double thumbing), and then finally the bum ditty (a derivative of double thumbing). And yes, I have successfully taught drop thumb from the get-go using this approach. Anyway, I hope this benefits aspiring clawhammer players.
