Notes: I usually play Eighth of January in G or, with the capo on 2, in A. It also works well in the key of D, and this is my version. There is a lot of single-string work, particularly in the high break, but it is not outrageous. If you want a different take on playing the tune in D, check out the tablature by the late Lynn Williams (banjoman 1). His nifty version is in double C tuning, with the capo up 2.
