Download: TABLEDIT
Notes: Goodbye Liza Jane is a swing tune that I associate with Bob Wills, and of course it works well in bluegrass as an instrumental. The tablature is my take on GLJ, with 3 breaks – nothing too outrageous.

Michael, you are becoming one of the best tabbers on BHO. I'm so happy for you...This is a really nicely arranged tab Michael....Jack

Thank you, Jack. I owe a lot to you for advice and suggestions through the years about music in general and TablEdit in particular! The irony is that, apart from a brief chapter in Pete Seeger's brilliant book, there was no tablature for bluegrass banjo available when I started playing. So I had to rely on slowing LPs down and using my ear to figure out how Earl Scruggs, Bill Keith, and others were doing what they did. I think learning with one's ear is the better way to learn, but tablature sure helps.

Excellent arrangement on this one Michael. I gave it a 5 star.
I would advise that beginning banjo players study this version and they will start to see many of the standard rolls and patterns they will use in their banjo journey. That's what I did over the years with some of the great tabbers here on the Hangout, including you Jack and I cannot forget Hans Holzher's contributions. Thanks to all of you.

Thanks for your comments, Joseph. You have identified two outstanding contributors to the tablatures on BHO, Jack Baker and Hans Holzher, and we should not forget MickG (Jack Gentile), who unfortunately seems not to have posted in recent times.

I did forget MickG. I have all his tabs saved on my HD. There are more people then what I listed so if I did not mention you, a big thanks to all for making BHO one of the best music sites on the web. Since the demise of Banjo News Letter, I find myself relying on BHO more and more. I am fortunate to have every edition of BNL starting from the beginning in November of 1973 and also I have a faded 3 page sheet signed by Hub dated March 1973. I need to get a copy done before it also fades into total blankness. The 2 collections I will never part with are Banjo News Letter and the old Frets magazine, of which I also have all the issues. I'm dating myself again.
