Notes: This is a fun exercise to learn the chords in the Key of G in all the inversions.
In the first section, the exercise plays the G scale on the G string (3rd string), the roll pattern starts on the G string.
In the second section, the exercise plays the G scale on the D string (1st string), the roll pattern starts on the D string.
In the third section, the exercise plays the G scale in the B string (2nd string), the roll patten starts on the B string.
As you play it through you are learning all the chords in the Key of G in all the inversions up and down the neck. By saying aloud (or thinking) the notes of the scale as you play the exercises you will easily learn the positions of all the notes in the Key of G on all the strings. (1st and 4th the same of course).
You can invent your own exercise by changing around the sequence of the chords and roll patterns to your liking.
In the first section, I find it easier to play the bar position chords using the index, middle and ring fingers. In the third section, I find it easier to play all the notes on the 1st string with the pinky.
Have fun!
