Notes: When I first heard Follow the Leader decades ago, the chord structure and title led me to speculate that it is Don Reno’s rejoinder to Foggy Mountain Breakdown. Whatever Reno had in mind, his nifty tune has stood the test of time, and the single-string work certainly blew my mind when I heard it. This tablature is a way I tend to play FtL, with a blending of Scruggs, melodic, and single-string styles and employing some of my own favorite licks. It most definitely is not faithful to Reno’s version, which is much more strongly wedded to repetitive forward rolls.

Thanks, Jack. I don’t think I have mentioned before that some time ago I adopted your approach to tabbing the guitar track, as you may have noticed. My earlier tabs included all strings in the brush, along with fancy bass runs. When I saw your more economical approach of displaying only the top 3 strings in the brush and just alternating bass, the lightbulb went on. So thanks for that as well.
