Notes: When exiting a Bob Dylan concert on a cold clear Saskatoon night in November 1997, I was gobsmacked by a virtuoso performance of the Northern Lights, shimmering, crackling, and popping in the sky, all of which inspired me to write this tune. I posted the tablature on BHO shortly thereafter. The ascending run of triplets was an attempt to convey the sense of the shimmering and rippling of the Lights. In 2008 with my band Knee Deep, I debuted the tune at, fittingly enough, the Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Festival. Note added in 2021: Northern Lights Breakdown is a crooked tune, one that has varying numbers of beats in some of the measures. I have revised the tab, to reflect this and to clean up some errors.

Yeah, we live in perilous times but we can alter a lot of that with common sense....Be well Michael...J
