Notes: Bill Holden was, in my opinion, one of Bill Monroe’s best if under-recognized banjo players. After a stint with the Country Gentlemen he joined the Blue Grass Boys in the mid-1970s. His break on Cabin in Caroline is straightforward and bluesy, but challenging. The right hand in the bluesy passages is potentially difficult, and I have indicated the fingering that I find works.
