Notes: "Bright Sunny South," based on the version by Dock Boggs, but presented here in thumb lead 2 finger picking style. I included the right hand fingering for the first part of the tune. Basically, the index finger plays the 1st string, and the thumb plays all others. My version of this tune is constantly changing. I use variations of this style through different verses, sometimes even including thumb/index pinched notes rather than rolls. The tuning is gDGCD.

I'm not able to open any tabs from BHO, as my computer always says "not supported" or "damaged", but hope this tab of yours will encourage others to play this wonderful old song! It was primarily this song that got me started on banjo around 1970, when I happened to discover Dock Boggs' first Folkways recording at the library. And thanks to Mike Seeger!

Hi, Bart. I have a video posted here on the hangout. My tab is based on that performance, but, like I said, it's always changing! Lately, I've been using thumb and index picks, playing in a style similar to that of Roscoe Holcomb. And, yes, thanks to Mike Seeger, on of my personal favorites!
