Notes: CFM is a lovely traditional tune. I heard it played by Frontline, a band from the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. that sadly is no more. Dale Williams was their excellent banjo player, and my version overlaps a bit with his. I have included a few variations, to show what can be done with the tune. It is in A minor, played out of standard G tuning and capoed up two.

I am learning Cold Frosty Morning from your tab. It's a beautiful song and a great version but I have a question. How do you finger the left hand on the 4th string 4th-5th fret hammer-on that occurs throughout the low break? It's easy for me as a slide but I can't figure out how to make it smooth with a hammer-on.

Wendyii , for me I would put index on 4th fret and hammer with middle finger since there is no other fretting going on may as well use 2 strong fingers.
