Notes: I arranged a version of this in Gmaj a few years ago, but decided to have a go at arranging it in the original key of Dmaj after our fiddler fell in love with the tune and wanted us to play it ensemble. It is quite difficult to fit as the tune covers two octaves. I have tried to keep the simplicity and spirit of my original arrangement, which I feel was also in the spirit of Jay Ungar's original for fiddle.

Notes: This is just my attempt to write down the tune as I am having difficulty pinning down the second part. I would be grateful for any correction anyone could supply.

Notes: "The Yankee Doodle Boy", also well-known as "(I'm a) Yankee Doodle Dandy" is a patriotic song from the Broadway musical Little Johnny Jones written by George M. Cohan. The play opened at the Liberty Theater on November 7, 1904.

Notes: This is a version of Tom Berghan's great arrangement of this pretty tune. Thanks Tom. He plays it drop-thumb style using pull-offs and hammering, but I have changed some fingering so that it can be played melodic style.

Notes: This is the famous minuet usually ascribed to Bach and it is found in the Anna Magdalena notebook. However, nowadays it is usually attributed to Christian Petzold. Thanks to Liam (Bilbo 1) for that information. You can see me playing this in my videos, but without the guitar accompaniment.

Notes: This is another minuet from the Bach Anna Magdalena notebook. However, it now looks as if it was by Christian Petzold as a companion piece to the popular minuet in G major.

Notes: This is an orginal by Alison Brown. I don't know if this is exactly the way she plays it, but it is note-for-note pretty much the same. A tricky finger buster this, but a terrific exercise to get your left hand moving around the fingerboard. If that wasn't enough, it is a delicious gentle tune that moves through several keys.

Notes: This is my first attempt, just for fun, to arrange a whole bluegrass song, including the lead melody and tenor harmony. Unfortunately, TablEdit doesn't have a voice synthesiser, so I have used midi sounds to replace the voice. I entered the melody notes for the voice and tenor harmony as banjo tab. The instruments are guitar, banjo and bass.
I have loosely based the arrangement on the Country Gentlemen's version, although I don't know how to inject their level of drive and energy. Also I haven't included mandolin and dobro or attempted to copy Eddie Adcock's inspired backup! (Someone else is welcome to have a go at that.) Instead I opted for some vamping the first time round and then some simple forward and forward-reverse rolls the second time.
Note that if you should ever want to print all of this out, it runs to lots of pages. So it is better to print out one instrument/voice at a time using the TablEdit Print Set Up menu on the Multi-Track tab.
I have pitched the song in G, although the CGs do it in B (I think). However, with TablEdit, it is easy to transpose into higher keys if required.
