Norm Edmonds--great source, Mike. This may be one of those tunes, like Lost Indian, where there's just a lot of variation and evolution until we don't recognize one Callahan from another. But the execution story remains...Nice picking.

There seems to be a wide variation of versions on this TOTW thread, to the point I wondered if this Callahan is even the same tune at all. That execution story is memorable too!

Good point about the various versions. This has strong echoes of 'Pateroller' to my ear, especially the high part. I imagine people made up poems to suit tunes they liked.

Thanks for the nice comments. Anfd ken, that's a nice picture of a Kingfisher you have there! We get those strikingly-coloured birds round here too...occasionally see one down by the stream (creek) if I'm lucky.
