I sent John a custom maple Frank Neat banjo (which is a GREAT banjo) that I felt the tone and volume had dramatically decreased over a short time period. I was unsure why, and after sending it to John he discovered the rim had delaminated/separated and wedged into the tone ring. He was able to separate the rim and ring and then repair the rim. He also tried different tone rings (it had a Blaylock) and finally settled on a JLS ring. Finally he adjusted the banjo and lowered the action a bit. The end result is like having a new banjo. Its got a killer tone down low and up the neck. I'm very happy with John's work. I have sent him banjos for "tune-ups" in the past and his work never disappoints me. His prices are VERY reasonable as well. I would highly recommend him.

I had John do a full setup on my banjo. Over the years I felt I just wasn't getting the full potential out of it. John tried different tone rings and bridges, and even shimmed the neck. When I got it back I could immediately feel and hear the improvements. I appreciated the amount of time he spent on my banjo, and he communicated well with me during the process. I would highly recommend his services to anyone.
