Sound

Loud and sweet. Mine is made o Wenge Wood, and has no tone ring, like the other Minstrels, instead the rim is turned at the top to act as the tone ring.

A little sloppy around teh star inlay(nothing a little more filler couldnt fix), but other than that flawless.

Sounds great for clawhammer style playing, and not too bad for 3-finger playing either.

The banjo, was used but set up excellently, medium-high action, just lik I like it.

The neck is nicely flamed, the inlays are really nice.

Reliability

The tuners dont seem like the best in the world, I will probably replace them in a short while.

The finish is good and It looks like it will last me a lifetime.

Components

As stated above, the tuners arent the best in the world. I got a new sampson walnut bridge and a no-knot tailpiece and nylgut strings are on their way to me. The Fiberskin head is great.

I would highly recomend this banjo, it will probably be the last openback I will need to buy.....although I've said that before about otehr instruments......
