Some days ago I purchased an Mike Ramsey Amish Banjo, from a good guy here in banjo hang out. I want to share my opinions about this beautiful instrument. Before, I have to add that the Reviews section of Banjo Hang Out was an important part in my decision of buying this banjo. But there are only two reviews, and the banjo deserves at least three,
The sound of the banjo is full, round and deep, clean, warm and full of color. I believe it worth every cent I spend on it, and of course I assume that is valid also to the new Amish banjos at Zepp Country Music. The 12’ pot gives good tone to every part of the sound spectrum: good bass, good Middle, good High tones. The volume is strong, but it have a good response also when a lesser intensity is needed.

My banjo is perfect, very comfortable, but it is an old instrument, 12 years old I’m told. So maybe the former owner altered the original set up in all these years.

The banjo is very pretty in its simplicity. It is truly elegant, minimal a good example of “less is more”. Anyway the finishes of the banjo are perfect. I believe the looks of this banjo suits the old time spirit, and talks of a time when things were simple and the aesthetics were in the purity of the objects in its function, without any extra ornaments. I dig also the other pole, fancy inlays, but I´m trying to talk of the design intention that, I believe, inspired the Amish.

The banjo, as I Wrote, It is 12 years old, and it’s in a very good shape. It almost looks new. The former owner took good care of it, but those years speak very well about the reliability of Mike Ramsey’s art.
