Bob Gaddis- Grifton, NC

Overall Comments

I drove over 100 miles to get my banjo set-up by Bob. I was not disappointed. Within hours, Bob had my banjo sounding like a million bucks. He took the time to try out over 10 bridges on my banjo to see which one sounded best. He also took the time to show me maintanence tricks to better my knowledge of the banjo. While I waited, Bob let me play several of his banjos, including a pre-war Gibson. His prices are also very reasonable. While I was there, I saw banjo necks and fingerboards that he built. They are of very high quality. I highly recommend the use of Bob Gaddis as your luthier! -

Capos: Bilt-Rite Capo

Submitted by scottiebeardsley on 9/15/2011

Where Purchased: Bill Adams (from the Banjo Hangout classified ad)

Overall Comments

I think this Capo does everything that Bill Adams said it would do. It keeps my banjo in tune no matter what key I am trying to play in. Therefore, I am not re-tuning my banjo after every time I use my capo. However, my favorite part of this capo is that I can go to the C position and not have my fingers right up against the capo. The metal attachment actually keeps the capo bar back to the middle of the fret. Its great not bumping into the capo every time I go to the C position. Overall, this is a great capo that improves the sound of your banjo when playing with a capo. I would recommend this capo to all of my banjo buddies.

Tuners: Apollo " D " Tuners

Submitted by scottiebeardsley on 9/15/2011

Where Purchased: From Bill Adams (off the Banjo Hangout Classifieds)

Overall Comments

These tuners are great and affordable. There are many great aspects about these tuners. For one, you only have to put two screws in the back of your peghead, instead of drilling holes through the peghead to install like you would with tuners like Cheat-a-Keys. Furthermore, if you don't want to put even small screw holes in your banjo, you can use double sided tape and it works just fine. I also like the range of the tuners. You can really bend those strings and drop the pitch more than a full step. Both the inventor and Bill Adams were great to work with. They shipped the tuners to me within a day after purchase. I was very impressed with their sense of customer service, answering any question I had quickly. When my package arrived, I had the tuners, the installation tools, and an instructional dvd on how to install and set-up the tuners. I also had both the inventors and Bill Adams telephone numbers just in case I had some additional question. The quality of these tuners are great and I would definately recommend these tuners to all my banjo buddies!
