Where Purchased: Huber Banjo
This is a beautifully made harness leather strap with a basket weave design and sewn loop ends, which I prefer to Chicago screws. The strap is adjustable by just attaching to a different hook, which has to be removed to attach. The leather is stiff but the payoff is that it looks great for a long time. The comfort is OK with me since it works and looks so good. Comes in brown and black but the black seems to be available only directly from Huber.

This is a Walnut Phantom with cocobolo fingerboard, truss rod cover, headstock, tone ring (timbertronic) and armrest. It has full curly maple binding on resonator, neck (custom narrower than normal) and headstock. The resonator is walnut burl. The metalwork is flame sprayed bronze, even the resonator bolts and tailpiece. The tuners are gold, The tone spheres are a mix of delrin and plastic.
The only reason I am rating this as a nine instead of a 10 is because the helimount casting is a bit rough in places and the finish is close to but not perfect. How about a 9.75 rating.

The flame spary should be very resistant to wear

Great tone with the Kruger ring. Setup with a G# tuned head and all else as sold by Deering. Very long sustain and very pure sound. From mellow to lots of punch.

Setup was excellent.

Flame maple tobacco collored with Inlays by Kevin Enochs. flawless. Not flashy. The only complaint is that for this cost more detail could have been put into it. Having said that it is superb. A bit more detail would have rated a 10.

Elderly was great.

Entire banjo is excellent. Kruger tone ring is amazing

Yes I would recommend it. It is a very nice contrast to my 1983 Stelling sunflower. Ithe reason I bought this is that I have small hands and the Kruger tone ring with the standard Deering neck was atractive.

Replaced bridge with a Sosebee Old Timber and adjusted the head tension. Really nice tone. great 4th string and tone right up the neck. You can feel the vibrations through the whole instrument. Not exactly like my 1983 Stelling Sunflower but really a joy. The sound is not overly bright. Very nice mellow sound with lots of punch.

Action was well set. Only the head needed tightening

Mahogany finish not fancy but very good. Tortoise on the resonator has some spaces that needed filling but it is still very good. Excellent fit and finish on the rest. .

Orrignal Snuffy bridge not great. Tailpiece is only Ok. The rest is very good.

While it is somewhat plain the tone is really superior for the price. Very good playability. Very Highly recommended. For playability and sound this is one excellent banjo which performs every bit as good as a $3000 - $4000 jo.
