Where Purchased: Bart Veerman
I recently purchased a custom compensated bridge from Bart and am very happy with it. I have a Deering Deluxe and, as with almost all banjos I have played, it needs a compensated bridge to be accurate over the whole fretboard. I used a Moon bridge for many years, and the intonation was better than a straight bridge, but not adequate. Determining the correct bridge compensation was straightforward, but Bart spent a lot of time working with me to find the right bridge material to achieve the tone I wanted. Once the material was selected, Bart made the compensated bridge and it works wonderfully. For the first time, I can play a chord at the nut and above the 12th fret, and both are in tune.

Where Purchased: Direct from Mike
The mute is well made and the polished brass looks very nice. I have a compensated bridge (as opposed to straight), so I selected this mute because it works on a curvy bridge, and because of the good reviews I have read. The volume is reduced dramatically, and the tone is very good. It doesn't sound like a banjo (not a problem to me), but the pitch of the strings is clear and that is critical so you know you are fingering and picking correctly. I have over 4mm of bridge curvature and the mute works fine. It also does not get in the way of my right hand.
The only 2 issues I have are that the sides of the mute rub significantly on the outside strings when I install or remove the mute, and that I can't leave the mute installed when I put it in the case because it could put pressure on the mute/bridge/head when the lid is closed. This is a very good product.
