Where Purchased: From Mike
I purchased my first mute from Mike 6 years ago but unfortunately managed to lose it somewhere between Ireland and New Zealand. When I contacted Mike to get a replacement he replied with 'hello again', after 6 years he still remembers his customers. That's service for you.
Everything I said in my original review still stands. There is no better mute than Mike's Banjo Mute. I have borrowed others to test at festivals and gatherings and stuffed my resonator with t-shirts but nothing compares to Mikes mute. The tone and sustain remain while the volume is a fraction of what it was. You can practice safe in the knowledge that your sleeping loved one(s) in the next room will not be disturbed by endless midnight renditions of Foggy Mountain Breakdown.

Where Purchased: Direct from Mike
I'm amazed at how this simply little device can significantly turn the volume down on my Recording King R20 yet still retain the ring and sustain. I can put it on without removing my finger picks or thumb pick and it does not interfere with my hand position.
Until I bought this mute my banjo playing could be heard throughout the house at night and in next door's yard. Now there is no way I could be heard in the next room (where my wife is trying to sleep), yet the tone from the banjo is just as sweet and enjoyable.
Plus, if you buy direct from Mike, he takes the time to email you personally. That's like buying a capo and having a message from Mr Shubb in your inbox!
