I've played banjos for fifty years, small banjos bought in a junk shop in Watford, crap Aria banjo bought in Germany, Gibson mastertone, and my favorite, Ibanez artist reputedly built under directions from Earl Scruggs himself. I saw the great Derroll Adams playing a Framus in England, I've tried a Dering good time and liked it, then when I was travelling in France where I live, I cama accross a Washburn B8 A-K pack in Cherbourg. I was on my way to play in England and needed a light not too loud banjo.

They have a geared 5th string tuner, good workmanlike machine heads, well finished solid wood build.I bought it, took it home took the resonator off and the chrome fittings, put decent light strings on and stuffed some newspaper in the head - I tried a variety of stuff, cloth, paper handkerchiefs, etc but found newspaper the best and bingo I had a beautiful toned 5 string.

The set up was perfect, I didn't need to adjust the string height and the long neck is totally straight. It's a parlour instrument and I've used it on recordings. Very good for the price but needs a little TLC before delivering its best
