I just had my 1927 Vega Artist tenor banjo re-fretted by Tommy George, of George Banjos, in Somerville, TN (Somerville is roughly an hour east of Memphis).
Not only is the fret work beautiful, he also filled in some of the "craters" on the ebony fingerboard (it's amazing how much wear can happen on a 90 year old instrument!), and restored the detail to many of the fingerboard inlays. All beautiful work!
I would recommend Tommy to anyone. Quick turn around, and very nicely priced. He builds them, he plays them, he repairs them, and it's obvious that he loves banjos. And, he's a nice guy!
