Nice mellow, warm sound, not super bright because of the wooden tone ring. As far as banjos go, not crazy loud. Overall good sounding banjo.
Sound Rating: 8
Everything seemed to be fine, it says on the banjo hut website its professionally set up.
Setup Rating: 9
Very nice Burled walnut back (it seems to just be a thin coating over some other material, but beautiful nonetheless), nickel plated hardware, rosewood fretboard, inlays are plastic except for headstock which I think is abalone.
Appearance Rating: 9
Everything has lasted well, nothing has broken. Finish is intact.
Reliability Rating: 10
I have never dealt with Mastercraft, all banjos have a lifetime warranty.
Customer Service: not rated
tuners hold the strings well, has a wooden (think it's walnut) tone ring, nothing has broken or seems fragile.
Components Rating: 9
Great banjo, probably one the best out there for the price, really good to start out on, I think.
