Lakota Leathers: Lakota Leathers

Where Purchased: Lakota Leathers website

Overall Comments

I received a wonderful braided elk leather strap from Kenny at Lakota Leathers. It is beautiful and supple. I needed a slight modification and Kenny sent one out immediately.

Great products. Great service. I suppose I'll need to buy more instruments just to need more straps.

Mutes: Mike's Banjo Mute

Submitted by Tony S on 1/10/2016

Where Purchased: direct from Mike

Overall Comments

Mike's banjo mute is a fine piece of craftsmanship and God's way of preserving the unique family structure of active banjo players.

It is made from brass and stainless steel and is very attractive. With this mute, a new ball hat and clean fingernails, you might even appear sophisticated.

The muted tone is very quiet but maintains good enunciation.

The mute can be installed in seconds, and unlike other mutes, will not fall off and break your foot or move the bridge as you try to slide in on.

Be aware that this mute may not fit some custom bridges. The height between the tines that fit below the arches of the bridge and the plate that clamps the top span of the bridge is 8mm. The distance between the tines is 23mm, so the center leg can be no wider than this.

Mike's banjo mute is the best on the market.
