The sound is a full body tubaphone type rich and meaty with plenty of bite and a worthy match for any of the best that I have tried in the US.

one word Perfect

Setup Rating: 10

It is an openback tubaphone tone ring with a block built body, scoop cutaway on the neck all from top quality birds eye maple. The scoop has an inlay of stars in the shape of the 'plough' with a silver scroll engraved with the word 'The Matchless' named after the British Matchless motorbike marq now long gone and the bike I never got to have but at least I got the banjo!

top quality components throughout the tail piece deserves special mention, hand made by james and so much better than any tail piece that I've ever seen its available in either a medium or long size fine engineering indeed, a snuffy bridge and top quality tuners finish it off.
