Purchased a Snark II recently. This is my third tuner in about three years (the other two "died" prematurly. I've got to say this is the best tuner I've ever used. It gets the tone down to a knat's hair and quickly. It responds the first time you pluck a string. I highly recommend.

works great, cannot be beat for the money. bought one used it and then bought 2 more. it could be a little quicker to find the note when a string is plucked, but overall a great value

I have the SN-2, red tuner. It works wonderfully, clips onto the peghead of the banjo, tunes accurately through either an internal mic or by vibration of the instrument (so background noise is not an issue). I'm delighted with it. The colour LED display is easy to read, clever clip design means you can clip it on anywhere on the banjo and rotate the display. I've tuned up with this and confirmed tunings with other tuners and it is consistent. Much better than the LCD one I had initially. Highly recommended.

I got this specifically to try it out with Steve Gill's ingenious little clip (see review on that).

Bottom line is that I LOVE the Snark. It's inexpensive, it's plenty accurate and, best of all, it's BRIGHTLY LIT which is a huge advantage in a dark bar.

Prior to getting this thing, I had poor luck with most headstock tuners when gigging (sound from other instruments would be picked up by my banjo and throw things off) and found that the best way to get accurate tuning was to clip a piezo on my bridge and jack it into a Korg. It was a PITA. The Snark combined with the Gill clip is the perfect combination and works like a champ.
