The banjo reviews database is here to help educate people before they purchase an instrument. Of course, this is not meant to be a substitute for playing the instrument yourself!

What a true gem! Charlie is one of the nicest, most honest men you will ever meet. I bought my OME banjo from him almost three years ago and it was absolutely brand new. He did set it up and make sure it sounded great but otherwise it was straight from the factory. For the past five years, each month I have been driving 120 miles, one way, to take lessons from Charlie and he has taught me so much. Charlie plays in a bluegrass gospel band every week called NeverFade and they are not only amazing but they surely evoke the Holy Spirit when they play. And, I know for a fact that Charlie is still an authorized dealer of OME banjos. I've been out to visit the OME plant, met Chuck Ogsbury, and know first-hand how highly he thinks of Charlie. Charlie himself owns two OME banjos that you may see pictures of when you visit his website. These are the only two he plays when he performs anywhere. As a professional businessman, professional musician and good Christian, he understands the meaning of integrity. His business dealings are fair, his ethics are above reproach, his banjo playing and teaching are AMAZING, and he and his wife are just great people to be around.

Owned by Charles Hamrick Jr. This is not a store, This guy sells out of his home, I have been there many times. Claims to be an Ome Representative But Ome says he is no longer "Active" with them. Rude to customers, Does not keep his word. Prices are to high. His instruments have finish flaws. Its hard to even get a Warranty card out of him. This is not Omes fault however. His current inventory is quite old if you check his serial numbers. His instruments are actually "used" as I have witness'd him using them at jams. Don't fall for these being new. I bought one banjo from him and would never do business with him again.... Just my bad experience !! Beware !! As far as teaching he is disfunctional and incoherent at times and sometimes he is not even home when you go for your lesson . He's out playing golf. ! He was probably the worst music teacher I ever had. I replaced him with another area professional banjo teacher and was much happier and my playing progressed much faster. This guy is not worth the money for lessons. Most his students can't play in jams after several years of lessons with him. As for his "Gospel" Bluegrass band they are mediocre at best playing songs like Amazing Grace, Ballad of Jed Clampett, Foggy Mountain Breakdown, Driftin Too Far From The Shore, I'll Fly Away, 1st year beginner material, worn out hymns to say the least. Nothing Special. His performance is like that of a "circus clown" patheticly starved for attention rather then that of a fine talented musician !
