It has a nice crisp sound, not too loud, perfect for practicing at home with the family. If I ever perform with a group, i will add the ez resonator for more volume.

I bought the 2009 because it has a fiddle style head, instead of the "gumby head". It also has bowtie fret markers. I like its simple yet elegant lines--------no chrome or fancy do dads, just a very nice plalying simple banjo! Simple, yet elegant!

every thing seems to be great! The one thing that seems a bit odd is the 4 tuning pegs have chrome knobs, but the 5th string has a white plastic knob on it. Its no big deal, but I did notice it. This banjo stays in tune, looks great, and seems to be a very sturdy instrument. I am extremely happy to have the 2009 with the fiddle head. (people do lots of mods to the goodtime, including redesigning /reshaping the gumby head style------I really didnt want to do that to a new instrument!
