Where Purchased: November 2007
Earlier this year I bought an 1890's Bay State banjo with a Jos. Rogers skin head. The banjo was all-original but had a flat sound and thin volume. After some neck work, the banjo began to open up, but was still not quite what I wanted. At John Balch's suggestion, I tried the Sosebee Bosnian Maple 11/16" bridge. After 3-4 weeks, the banjo has added plunk and punch and is better able to hold its own in a jam. I am very happy with the sound now. The bridge supports the Nylgut strings very well.
