Sound

A Scruggs Style sounds much like a Gibson I've
been told by others in the know. I use a piezo
pickup glued to the inside of the skin near the
bridge. This setup will encourage whistle
feedback, keeping a fair distance from the amp is
critical.

Sound Rating: 8

Setup

Changing the setup is something I only do when I
totally dismantle the instrument to clean it. They
like to gather dust in the nooks and crannies
which eventually get me to disasemble it
completly and set it up again.

Setup Rating: 8

Appearance

This Ibanez is a blond, the saying blonds have
more fun, that I'm not sure of but it is a very
pleasing instrument.

Appearance Rating: 8

Reliability

The gold plating is showing signs of tarnsih.
Several times I've considered having it redone
however, the used appearance goes well with it's
tarnished owner. :-).

Components

The Scruggs Tuners are Shallers, they seem to have
a mind of their own at times, I put up with it as
I'm not sure replacing them with new ones will be
any better.

Overall Comments

I love my banjo and would not look forward to have
to make an insurance claimlets not dwell on this
too long.
