Absolutely outstanding! The banjo has the nice 12" depth, but with the brass & maple it still has great upper frequencies. Paired with a goat skin head it sounds amazing!
Sound Rating: 10
The banjo arrived with perfect set-up. 1/8" string height at the 12th, straight neck and perfect head tension. Better 'out of the box' than about any other banjo I've ever purchased.

The banjo is stained in dark walnut with aged brass hardware. It has a mother of pearl custom fish inlay on the headstock and an ebony fretboard with 'micro' brass dot inlays. It has an elegant, yet worn-in look about it. I love it!

Hardware and tuners all seem to be top notch. Too early to tell, but I anticipate zero reliability problems.

Lindsay Lewellen is one of the nicest gentlemen I've ever spoken with. He is very responsive and did a great job communicating with photos during the build progress of my banjo. I would definitely consider ordering another from him.
Customer Service: 10
Not a single component needs upgraded. All top notch materials were used in the build.
Components Rating: 10
I ordered this banjo in mid-2021 and the build was completed in August 2022. The ordering process was simple and Lindsay offered several great suggestions regarding my specifications. When I finally heard the banjo I was blown away. I was exactly the sound I had in my head! The appearance was also just as I had envisioned. The banjo has an elegant yet rugged appearance (by design) and a tone and playability that is as good or better than any banjo I've owned to date. I would highly recommend a Quail Creek custom build to anyone has the patience to wait, and knows what they want (but can't find it elsewhere). It has been a great experience...!
