Where Purchased: Direct from Deering
Ok, so I've read some of the comments on the site about this bridge. I'm not worried about why the company made it, business decisions, etc. it's a maple capped ebony bridge with rounded feet. So, I decided to post my review of this bridge that I received this past Saturday. I purchased an 11/16 radiused Smile bridge for my Deering John Hartford banjo. I was currently swapping out between the factory bridge and another custom bridge.. The new smile bridge increased my volume, which I really didn't need. It also significantly improved my overall tone. Banjo sounds great! FYI, I'm currently using 10.5 11.5 13 20 10.5. A Ludwig head and a price tailpiece. OMG I hope I didn't violate a patent! Really folks it's just a banjo bridge. It gives my banjo a solid sound, crisp but not twangy.. Playing into an ear trumpet Louise microphone it sounds great though I did have to back further away from the mic because of the volume. Sound is always so subjective but if your looking for a new bridge, I can only say it improved my tone enough that I was impressed with it. And I will add that I have cut down ie, ruined, many high end banjo bridges after 38 years of playing this dang thing. I hope this helps. Email for further info if you like. Now if I could just get my pull offs as fast and clean as Dan Menzone............Mikem
