I was lucky enough to win the 2014 Camo Frog bridge from Generous Virgil Lawson from Tazewell, Tn.  I recieved it this last week and finally had a chance to try it and thought I'd let ya know what I think. At first glance it is a unique and eye appealing piece of banjo candy finely crafted. Cool looking design and just different than most.  I had hopes that it would take my already great sounding Hatfield to the next level. After trying it on the Hatfield, I'm sorry to say the Hatfield didn't like it. I then tried it on my Gibson RB250 that has a swee mellow tone and can crack, but without much volume. Well, let me tell kept the sweet tone and crack, but took the volume up to where I could never get it before. I had a scorpion bridge on it at the time which I love, but I think the Frog is gonna stay on the RB for now. Really brought out the tone and volume on the treble end, but kept the growl . Very nice.

Now , when Virgil sent me the Frog Bridge , he also generously sent a European Beech bridge that he made and sent me to try. Well, I already had the mindset that my Hatfield Special with the comped Original Snuffy Smith 2 wasn't gonna get any better.  WRONG!!!  To my surprise the Beech bridge changed the character of my Hatfield with more volume and more Growl, which I didn't think was possible.  There is another slight difference in tone that I have no idea how to describe, but I like it. It's subtle , but it's there. I put the Snuffy back on and within 10 minutes put the European Beech back on. The Beech bridge was at 1.9 g , very thin, but stable and might I add looks pretty nice too.

Not only am I a Winner. (I know, heard it before), but a double winner with volume on the RB and a new sound on the Hatfield.

Thank You so much Virgil and Hope I get to meet you next time I'm in Tazewell. To thank you in person. Thanks again!!!
