Where Purchased: Music Store, Kenosha, WI

Year Purchased: 2011
Price Paid: 1200 ($US)

I pretty much like the sound and loudness now.

Sound Rating: 8

The banjo did not have a good solid sound when I got it new,I was lucky to find Jeff Kramer of "Cloverlick Banjo" in Burlington WI and he went through the entire banjo from top to bottom for the 1st set- up. When he was done I could not believe it was the same banjo it was so improved. Throu the years he has done new bridge work, spikes, fret work and reasently a new Fults Pro 5 tail piece.and "D" tuners. The set up rateing for Jeff would be the very Highest allowed. The set-up rateing below will be as I got it from the factory.

Setup Rating: 3

It is a good looking banjo, dark in color, with gold bright work. The first armrest oxidized quite faset but Washburn replaced it after more than a year with no problem. The neck is carved where it connectes to the banjo, it is low key but nice

Appearance Rating: 9

The way it is set up now is very dependable, I would recomend a new bridge, and to replsace the tailpiece as it's pretty flimisy.and have the drum head adjusted (tuned) by a qualified luther such as Jeff Kramer of Cloverlick Banjo!!!

Reliability Rating: 8

I had one problem with the arm rest and the company replaced the entire armrest assembly with no problem.

Most of the components are ok... the tuners seem to have held up very well and hold their tune ... the tail piece is sort of cheesy as I"ve said before, and the bridge was very generic, I was glad to upgrade.

Overall Comments

This banjo, as set up now, is a very good banjo, I have had many compliments from other banjo players..such as Gibson,Stelling,Pre war Gibson players. I do realize that a person gets what he pays for and a 1200 dollar banjo can not compare to a $4000 or $6000 banjo, or to a custom made banjo such as the banjo's Jeff makes at Cloverlick in Burlington WI.But for what it is , it can hold it;s own.
