Hello. I have a (Ithink) 1928 Silver Bell and it has a Grover Patent Presto tailpiece on it. I am not happy with the sound/tone of the banjo. I like the look of the tailpiece in this picture of your banjo. Can you tell me what kind it is and if it's original? I'm not sure if mine is original or not.

Early B&D Silver Bell banjos came with Grover Patent Presto tailpieces as original equipment. Yours might well be the OEM part. However, at some point they changed to the Oettinger style as in my photo. I'm not sure when they changed from one to the other.
The Oettinger part is more sturdy and provides adjustablilty. I think they sound good too. Unfortunately, no one manufacturers an Oettinger reproduction. original Oetingers are sometimes available. I've seen the for sale in the classifieds here and on ebaY. They cost $175-225 (or more) when available.
I hope that helps!
